nicole & mark are married!

9.24.09 (Weddings)

This wedding in northern Michigan at The Perry Hotel was unbelievable! Both Nicole and Mark live in New York, as do most of their guests, and so they wanted to show their guests a very "Michigan" experience while also bringing "New York" sophistication to the event. I'd say they, and their incredible wedding planner Misty from Bells & Bliss, pulled it all off perfectly. And Tifany from Gourmet Invitations did an amazing job on all of the paper products!

When the guests checked into to their hotel rooms, they were given welcome bags with select local items. The bride and groom even took the time to hand write unique messages to each of their guests on the back of these cute little Petoskey tags.

The bride got ready in a beautiful suite at The Inn at Bay Harbor. I just loved her Kate Spade shoes!

Ah... the first look moment...

Doesn't every girl smile that big at the sight of that little blue box?!?!

And these champagne bridesmaid dresses with little roses were fabulous!

Tokens of personalization were bountiful, including these photos tied to her bouquet.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE classic cars at weddings...

This was the view from the reception area...

I never got the backstory on why there was a little lady bug made of frosting on the back of their cake, but clearly there's must be an awesome story behind it!!!

The tables were distinguished by ceramic tiles of various wine labels...

The gentlemen's cigar lounge...

These water glasses are stunning...

I'm a huge fan of mercury glass candle holders. They're all over my studio!

This giant easel held the bride and groom's vows....

Nicole and Mark - congratulations!!! You were so fun to be around, your wedding was stunning, and I'm thrilled that I was able to be a part of your day!

abby & nick are married!

9.23.09 (Weddings)

Abby and Nick's wedding was SA-WEET! I loved everything about it, from her mermaid dress, to the color palette of pink, peach, and ivory, to the classic car they rode in, etc. And the centerpieces (some made with cake holders) and the hand-made paper products were so super creative!

Nick and Abby met when he was her personal trainer at the gym... and then they fell in love. Isn't it every girls dream to date their super hot personal trainer?!?! Or maybe it's every trainer's dream to date their hot trainee. I don't know... I just know that they're both super hot and they make a great couple!

The Montague Inn made for an incredibly romantic reception venue, the flowers by Grohman's were unbelievable, the band Jedi Mind Trip totally rocked the house, Mary's Cakery did an amazing job on the groom's Oberon cake, and the dress... ah the dress... was from Priscilla of Boston.

kristyn & jamal are married!

9.23.09 (Weddings)

So I recently had a conversation that went something like this:

Her: "Are you available next week on Monday to shoot a wedding?"

Me: "Wait, did you say next week?? and Monday??"

Her: "Yes, my sister got engaged last week and they just want to have a tiny little ceremony in my parents' back yard. It will be officiated by our father, who is a priest, and only the immediate families will be present. She loves your work and we're really hoping you're available. She's not pregnant, they just feel like getting married immediately."

Me: "Awesome - I love unique weddings. I'm honored by the compliment. The thought of pregnancy didn't even enter my mind. We're on, it's gonna rock!"

And here are some of my favorite photos from their adorable and practically impromptu backyard wedding...

Congrats Kristyn & Jamal!!! If you live the rest of your life in this type of head on manner, you'll be able to do anything and I'm sure you'll make some great stories along the way!

things i love: karen fairborne jewelry

9.21.09 (News)

When one of my clients came to my studio for her boudoir session, she had on the most beautiful necklace and of course I asked her where she got it. So she told me all about Karen Fairborne and how she's this awesome boutique jewelry designer in New York with an amazing product line. Well, her necklace went onto my "list o' things I really really want" and within a few days I'd ordered one for myself. I also emailed Karen to tell her how much I love her jewelry and we ended up chatting on the phone for a while. I can report that she's not just an awesome artist, but also a very nice person.

My favorite line of hers are the "charms", which you can mix and match on a chain. I immediately thought they'd be a perfect gift for bridesmaids. When I mentioned this to Karen, she told me that she is actually coming out with a line of jewelry for brides and bridesmaids (as soon as she has photos of that I'll share that with you too)!

Anyway, here are some images of her charms line. There are many many more charms to choose from, but these are some of my favorites.

And here's the combination of charms that I selected...
