Townsend Hotel Wedding: Amanda & Ted

9.12.18

As a wedding photographer, I get the chance to meet a lot of amazing couples. While each and every one is special, there are a few that really stand out. Amanda and Ted are one of those couples.

The pair lives in Montana and booked me without meeting face-to-face. Because of the distance between us, we weren’t able to schedule an engagement session. Thus, when Amanda reached out earlier this summer asking to arrange a quick “sit down” to get to know one another, I jumped at the opportunity.

It was at this meeting that I knew the wedding day was going to be amazing.

And, I was right!

Amanda and Ted are perfect for one another. The love between them is so very obvious, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them.

The entire affair was a joyous occasion. Amanda was cool, calm, collected, and ridiculously STUNNING in her gown. It’s no wonder that Ted is so enamored with her!

Surrounded by family and friends, the couple said “I do”, and held their reception at the ever-fabulous Townsend Hotel. Their decor was simply amazing! I loved the gorgeous colors Amanda incorporated, especially the soft hues in the flowers by Parsonage Events and the ombre cake by LW Cake Design blew me away! As an extra special touch, Amanda made all of the signage, invites, and paper products herself. She is so very talented!

However, what struck me the most about this event was the obvious love and support the couple has from their friends and family. There was not just one toast. Instead, MULTIPLE people stood to give speeches about how the two had personally touched their lives. It was clear from the joy in the room that Amanda and Ted have a positive impact on just about everyone they meet. It’s impossible to NOT adore the two!

I truly will never forget this day, or the obvious love and respect Ted and Amanda have for one another. They truly are a wonderful pair!

the inn at st. john's wedding: Lindsey & James

8.30.18

I have been looking forward to Lindsey and James’ wedding day ever since I spent a frigid afternoon with them capturing their engagement photos last winter.

The pair is absolutely adorable. They are full of fun, and so, so kind. In fact, I accidentally locked my keys and phone in my vehicle at the very start of their engagement session, and Lindsey and James were kind enough to see me through!

I’ve since gotten a new mode of transportation- one that makes it near impossible to lock one’s keys in one’s car. Thus, I’m happy to report that were no “vehicle hiccups” on their wedding day!

In fact, the entire affair was sheer perfection.

Our team began at the Inn at St. John’s, where the bridal party was getting ready for their big debut. This venue is an extra special one. I simply LOVED the fact that Lindsey chose one of their gorgeous suites for preparation photos. The room was the perfect setting for all of our detail shots.

Our first look took place at the Inn’s gardens. And, though a bit of rain quickly set in, we were able to capture some lovely shots of the two before the downpour!

Lindsey and James’ nuptials were held at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. The service was beautiful, and the church absolutely gorgeous. Lindsey looked STUNNING in her gown, and you could see the pure adoration the couple has for one another when they said their vows.

We then wrapped up this incredible day back at the Inn and began the celebration! There was much fun to be had, with a rockin' dance floor thanks to Mike Staff Productions. Their gorgeous cake was by Love and Buttercream Bakery, flowers by K&M Flowers, and Jen's Invites did the beautiful invitations. I hope that Lindsey and James will continuously recount the joy they felt on this day.

Best wishes to an amazing couple!

Private estate in Richmond: Kacie & Matt

6.25.18

The staff here at KT&Co have been waiting a LONG time for the wedding of Kacie and Matt.

Kacie is the daughter of one of our extremely sweet and talented second shooters- Cathy. So, to say that I was excited to be commissioned for their special day is an understatement!

Kacie and Matt were married in Cathy’s backyard- making the event extremely personal and intimate. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, you could feel the love and happiness between the two.

Kacie looked absolutely STUNNING in her grey/silver wedding gown. It was a dress made for a princess, and I truly believe she couldn’t have chosen a more perfect gown to walk down the aisle in.

The day was absolutely perfect- from the cupcake station, to the beautiful bouquets by The Village Florist of Romeo, to the joy of everyone in attendance. It was such an honor to be a part of this sweet couple’s wedding.

Meadowbrook Country Club Wedding: Amy & Ryan

6.12.18

Memorial Day weekend was a busy one for me. Not only did I have the standard family events on the actual holiday, but I was lucky enough to photograph TWO fabulous weddings that weekend.

Amy and Ryan’s event kicked off the holiday, and was SO MUCH FUN! Amy is a friend of Courtney’s- one of KT&CO’s own lead photographers. Thus, I knew that the day was going to be extra special!

Surrounded by their family and closest friends, Amy and Ryan made a stunning couple. Amy’s dress was so beautiful, and Ryan looked extremely dapper in his tuxedo!

The couple had an intimate ceremony at Amy’s parents' church, and then we headed to Meadowbrook Country Club to celebrate their nuptials. What made the event extra special was that their reception venue was the same one where Amy’s parents held theirs! Cantoro's Italian Market made the wonderful cake, RSVP made the elegant invites, and Wedding Flowers by Heidi brought a touch of nature to the reception room with pink florals.

It was so wonderful to have so many generations there to witness their marriage. The love and support from their families was palpable, and I know that Amy and Ryan have many wonderful years ahead of them.

Colony Club Wedding: Xiyan & Stephen

6.12.18

If you’ve been following along on our blog, you know that I had TWO weddings on Memorial Day weekend. “Double headers” can be exhausting, but I work with some pretty wonderful couples. They make my job easy and fun!!!

Xiyan and Stephan are no exception!

Late in the fall, I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon photographing this adorable couple. Though we had to fight a rainy and windy day, it was well worth it for the images we got!

Lucky for us, we were blessed with perfect weather on their wedding day. (I think it was a trade-off for the chilliness during their engagement session) It was warm, sunny, and absolutely beautiful!

The ladies began their day at The Inn at 97 Winder. This Detroit gem is gorgeous. Complete with Art Deco furniture and gorgeous antiques, it was the perfect setting for getting ready photos.

Lending to the Detroit flavor, Xiyan and Stephen opted to have photos taken at the Z Lot and in front of the gorgeous Fox Theatre. Both made for a perfect backdrop for the bridal party photos.

The couple then held their nuptials at one of my favorite venues- The Colony Club. With its high ceilings and perfect lighting, it is such a wonderful place to say “I do”.

I really loved that Stephen and Xiyan incorporated details of her heritage into their day. The pops of red symbolizing happiness and good luck were truly splendid, and small elements like origami seat holders and various Chinese decorations made for a charming and enchanting reception.

The entire day was simply magical, and I couldn’t be more happy for this sweet and charming couple!
